Inviting applications for the role of Domain Trainee / Management Trainee-Reinsurance Accounting & Reporting
Responsibilities :
Technical Accounting Manage accounting for all Local and Syndicate entities ensuring accurate and compliant reporting of reinsurance transactions
Premiums Process written and earned premiums perform Acumen validation handle premium adjustments and reconciliations in accordance with accounting policies
Losses & Reserves Post IBNR and loss schedules (e.g. held reserves) validate movements and support actuarial inputs for reserve accuracy
Expenses & DAC Account for Deferred Acquisition Costs (DAC) operating and administrative expenses with proper allocation and documentation
Financial Close Activities Perform month-end closing including profit commission intercompany settlements UK GAAP adjustments FX proofs and currency balance sheet reconciliations
Reporting & Analysis Prepare lead schedules for P&L and Balance Sheet consolidation packs for multiple affiliates and recharge journals where applicable
Debtors & Controls Oversee aged debtors and broker reconciliations ensuring timely resolution control adherence and data accuracy across reporting cycles
Continuous Improvement & Controls Strengthen process controls identify automation opportunities and drive consistency and efficiency across Reinsurance operations
Minimum Qualifications :
Commerce Graduate / Postgraduate
Relevant years of experience in managing F&A RTR Reinsurance processes
Experience in working with an insurance client is must
Preferred Skill Set :
Thorough knowledge of Insurance / Reinsurance business
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Computer literacy MS Excel in particular (familiarity with VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)
Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly and succinctly articulate issues to senior management
Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
Self-starter with ability to work under own initiative
Strong time management skills
Integrity with an ability to handle confidential information
