Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage SUT compliance engagements end-to-end.
- Support engagement workflow and assist with workload management across the team.
- Lead and guide team members, with supervisory experience being a strong advantage.
- Remain updated on Sales and Use Tax (SUT) changes and ensure the team is informed.
- Ensure timely retrieval of data, accurate filings, payments, and final reconciliations.
- Document compliance changes and events for future reference and consistency.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain and ensure adherence to Turnaround Time (TAT) for ad-hoc and routine compliance tasks.
- Take initiative on process improvement and automation, and support implementation.
- Review tax returns to ensure accuracy, legitimacy, and alignment with stakeholder expectations.
- Manage and resolve notices, troubleshoot compliance issues independently.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (required).Master's in Accounting or Taxation (preferred).Experience
6+ years in Sales and Use Tax compliance, including :Full compliance cycle handling (data retrieval → filing → reconciliation).Experience in state-specific tax nuances.Hands-on involvement in client onboarding and automation projects.Technical Skills
Proficient in :Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Power Query, Access.Vertex or similar SUT tools.Familiar with :Alteryx, database software (preferred).Core Skills & Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication.Strong analytical and critical thinking.Capable of leading and mentoring teams.Proficiency in Tax Technology concepts and decision-making.Effective stakeholder relationship management.Detail-oriented with a focus on process efficiency and consistency.Skills Required
