Project Manager - Cognos

Job Summary :

The Project Manager Cognos will be responsible for leading comprehensive business intelligence initiatives with a primary focus on Cognos reporting tools.

This leadership position demands expertise in managing all phases of BI project executionfrom requirements gathering through deployment and optimizationwhile serving as a strategic bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams.

The role offers the opportunity to spearhead performance improvements, guide BI development teams, and deliver high-quality, scalable reporting solutions that drive business Responsibilities :

• Lead end-to-end business intelligence projects centered around Cognos solutions, including Report Studio, Framework Manager, and SQL development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teamsincluding business analysts, developers, QA, and data architectsto gather requirements and define technical specifications.
• Develop detailed project plans, managing scope, timelines, resources, risk, and budget to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Optimize and consolidate BI reports and data models for enhanced scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Facilitate communication and alignment between business units and technical teams, ensuring transparency and setting realistic expectations.
• Mentor and coach BI team members on best practices, emerging technologies, and quality standards.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular updates, escalating risks and issues promptly.
• Promote Agile or hybrid project management methodologies to support flexible and iterative delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on tooling, process efficiency, and solution Skills & Qualifications : :
• 12 to 14 years of professional experience managing business intelligence projects.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Cognos BI tools (Report Studio, Framework Manager) and extensive SQL proficiency.
• Experience with report consolidation, optimization, and performance tuning in BI environments.
• Proven ability to manage large-scale, complex BI projects end-to-end.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working collaboratively in matrixed, cross-location :
• Certifications in Scrum Master, SAFe, PMP, or equivalent.
• Experience with other BI tools like Tableau or Power BI.
• Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies.
• Understanding of data warehouse architectures and ETL Competencies :
• Strategic leadership with the ability to inspire and align diverse teams around project goals.
