Position : Cost Accountant
Experience Required : 3+ Years
Location : Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India
Office Timing : 12 PM to 9PM (Mon – Fri)
CTC Range : 10-12 LPA
Experience : 3+ years of cost accounting or manufacturing accounting experience, preferably in a standard cost environment.
Position Summary :
The Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate product costs, supporting inventory management, and providing financial analysis to drive operational and strategic decisions. This role collaborates closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, Accounting, and FP&A to ensure cost accuracy, support margin analysis, and streamline processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Cost Management
- Update costs for existing and new products, ensuring alignment with standard costing methodology.
- Perform standard cost rolls and analyze impacts on inventory and margins.
- Analyze standard cost variances for material, labor, and manufacturing overhead to identify root causes.
- Verify correct landed material costs with Supply Chain.
- Review BOM and Routing details with Engineering for accuracy.
- Investigate data discrepancies and implement process improvements.
Financial Analysis & Collaboration
Support financial analysis for gross margin, contribution margin, and profitability studies with Accounting and FP&A teams.Provide estimated costs for new sales opportunities by partnering with Sales and Product Management.Assist in preparing month-end reporting packages and labor / overhead absorption reporting.Prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and support monthly closing activities.Assist with Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) reconciliations.Perform ad hoc analyses as assigned.Inventory Management
Coordinate cycle count program, analyze results, and explain variance root causes.Ensure accuracy of physical inventory and investigate book-to-physical adjustments.Analyze inventory trends and prepare reports highlighting significant changes.Assist with year-end physical inventories across facilities.Calculate Excess & Obsolete (E&O) reserves for multiple locations.Review inventory and related general ledger accounts for completeness and accuracy.Audit & Compliance
Collaborate effectively with internal and external auditors by providing necessary information.Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA / CMA or progress toward certification preferred.3+ years of cost accounting or manufacturing accounting experience, preferably in a standard cost environment.Experience collaborating with auditors and supporting audit requests.Strong understanding of manufacturing cost flows, inventory management, and variance analysis.Experience updating and maintaining product costs and supporting cost roll processes.Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or Infor M3 preferred).Familiarity with reporting tools such as Power BI, OneStream, and Rapids.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to analyze large datasets.Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate financial insights effectively.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Key Competencies :
