Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Consultant Gastroenterologists to join the Gastroenterology department.

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our five main campuses :
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.
About the Role :
This is a fixed term role from January 2026 until 30 June 2026. The Consultant Gastroenterologist will be responsible for a funded initiative to improve endoscopy and outpatient services at Northern Health as a full-time role. This position aims to (1) assess patients on Planned Appointment Waiting list for specialist clinics to enable rapid referral for non-endoscopic treatment and alternative pathways, (2) assess patients on the Endoscopy Waitlist to assess suitability and requirement for endoscopy, including commencement of a novel complex endoscopy assessment clinic in conjunction with a general physician, (3) co-ordinate an educational program for GPs to empower community management of common gastroenterological conditions, and (4) coordinate optimisation of endoscopy sessions.
The successful applicant will be expected to undertake research and QA activities, and supervise junior medical, nursing and allied health staff. Appropriate clinical support time is included.
This Consultant Gastroenterologist will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members - including allied health clinicians, nursing and medical staff - to deliver high-quality services. The role is based at both Northern Health’s Epping campus and Broadmeadows campus.
