The Manager – Indirect Tax is responsible for building and developing the indirect tax practice, managing client engagements across compliance and advisory, providing expert guidance on indirect tax laws, and leading teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The role involves client acquisition, cross-selling, risk management, and mentoring team members.
roles & responsibilities
- Build and develop the indirect tax practice and identify new clients independently or with support from seniors or other teams
- Identify new opportunities with existing clients based on developments in indirect tax or client operations
- Understand client requirements, gather relevant facts, and design appropriate service offerings
- Plan the scope of work, outline limitations, and discuss commercials with partners
- Communicate service offerings and proposals effectively to clients and convert leads into assignments
- Ensure risk processes are completed before initiating assignments as per KPMG guidelines and obtain necessary approvals
- Plan and manage assignment execution with appropriate resources, ensuring quality deliverables and timelines are met
- Provide expert advice to clients on indirect tax laws, regulations, and practical solutions with industry insights
- Add value to assignments by developing innovative solutions for clients
- Manage pan-India compliance and advisory services
- Represent clients before tax and appellate authorities in audits, assessments, and litigation matters
- Guide and coach team members during assignment execution
- Mentor team members on indirect tax concepts and ensure on-the-job learning
- Nominate team members for internal / external training and ensure attendance
- Discuss career aspirations of team members and provide guidance for growth
- Manage team performance, encourage innovation, and implement best practices
- Provide regular feedback to team members on their performance
- Network within the service line and across other service lines for business development
- Understand services offered by different service lines and cross-sell to generate new clients
