To lead the Project Portfolio Management Office (PMO) through a strong consulting-driven approach , ensuring standardized governance, performance monitoring, risk management, and strategic alignment across solar, EPC, and infrastructure projects. The role aims to enhance execution efficiency, resource optimization, and governance maturity across the end-to-end project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Portfolio Management
- Manage the end-to-end portfolio of solar EPC, infrastructure, and manufacturing projects—planning to closure—with a focus on strategic alignment and consulting-led optimization.
- Develop and maintain a centralized PMO dashboard capturing project timelines, budgets, risks, dependencies, and quality metrics.
- Ensure portfolio alignment with business strategy, organizational priorities, and investment decisions.
- Lead project prioritization, resource allocation, feasibility assessment, and portfolio optimization.
- Apply consulting methodologies for portfolio reviews, performance evaluations, and process enhancements.
2. Project Governance
Design and institutionalize a comprehensive Project Governance Framework aligned with PMBOK, PRINCE2, MSP, and consulting best practices.Enforce standardized methodologies and governance processes across initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.Conduct governance audits and stage-gate reviews for quality, compliance, and risk controls.Define and track project-level and portfolio-level KPIs and KRAs for project managers and cross-functional teams.Assess governance maturity and drive continuous improvement initiatives.3. Performance Monitoring & Reporting
Establish KPIs for schedule adherence, cost performance, risk index, milestone achievement, and project quality.Publish weekly, monthly, and quarterly governance reports for CXO and Board-level reviews.Track and analyze variances related to cost, time, quality, and resource utilization.Conduct root-cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions using structured consulting frameworks.4. Risk & Compliance Management
Identify, assess, and mitigate financial, operational, and schedule-related risks across the project portfolio.Maintain a comprehensive risk register and ensure governance compliance with SOPs, safety, quality, and sustainability standards.Conduct project audits, post-project evaluations, and lessons-learned workshops to enhance organizational capability.5. Stakeholder & Change Management
Act as the central liaison among business leadership, project teams, finance, operations, procurement, and external consultants.Manage change requests with due evaluation of business impact, cost implications, and strategic relevance.Support business decisions through the preparation of business cases, financial models, feasibility reports , and portfolio justification documents.Drive structured change management initiatives based on consulting methodologies such as ADKAR and Kotter.6. Continuous Improvement & Digital Transformation
Implement and optimize digital PMO tools such as Primavera, MS Project, SAP PS, Power BI, and portfolio governance software.Lead initiatives to improve data integrity, reporting accuracy, governance transparency, and process standardization.Mentor project managers and build internal capability through training, coaching, and consulting-led governance interventions.Drive PMO transformation projects to elevate delivery predictability and execution excellence.Qualifications & Experience
B.E. / B.Tech (Mechanical / Electrical / Civil) – MandatoryMBA / PGDM in Project Management / Operations / Strategy – PreferredExperience : 14–18 years, including :Minimum 5+ years in PMO, Governance, Portfolio Management, or Consulting PMO rolesStrong experience in consulting environments (Big-4 / Strategy / Project Advisory) preferredExposure to Solar, EPC, Infrastructure, or Capital Projects is an advantageCertifications (Preferred) :PMPPRINCE2MSP (Managing Successful Programmes)Skills & Competencies
