The Design Engineer – Electrical is responsible for creating, reviewing, and optimizing electrical designs for industrial and infrastructure projects. This includes preparing detailed drawings, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, earthing, and control systems
- Prepare single-line diagrams, cable schedules, load lists, and equipment layouts
- Develop detailed engineering deliverables using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools
- Ensure designs comply with IEC, IS, and other relevant codes and standards
- Conduct load calculations, short circuit analysis, and voltage drop assessments
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and instrumentation teams for integrated design solutions
- Review vendor drawings and ensure alignment with project specifications
- Support procurement by preparing technical specifications and evaluating vendor offers
- Assist construction teams with technical queries and site execution challenges
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments
- Maintain accurate documentation and version control of design outputs
- Contribute to continuous improvement and standardization of design practices
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends in electrical engineering
