The International Forum for Environment, Sustainability & Technology (iFOREST) is seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to support and lead the organization's research and policy engagement in the Air Pollution and Waste Management Programme.
The role requires strong expertise and understanding on few areas such as climate-smart agriculture (CSA), Agri-residue management, technological interventions for in-situ and ex-situ process, Agri-based market mechanism, understanding on biomass economy – focusing on reducing air pollution levels.
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical, Agro-economic, and policy skills, combined with a commitment to enhancing sustainable agriculture systems across India's diverse Agro-climatic regions.

Air Pollution and Waste Management Programme
The Air Pollution and Waste Management Program at iFOREST tackles the growing challenge of air pollution in India through integrated research, policy engagement, and implementation. A key focus of the program is addressing agriculture-related emissions, particularly from open burning of crop residues, inefficient use of fertilizers and inputs, and unsustainable land management practices.
We aim to develop and promote climate-smart agricultural solutions that reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, while improving soil health, crop productivity, and rural livelihoods. This includes work on stubble management, low-emission farming practices, alternative cropping systems, and technological and institutional innovations that support farmers transition to cleaner and climate-resilient practices.
The Role
The Senior Programme Associate will be responsible for executing research and engagement outputs for the Air Pollution and Waste Management Programme. This includes conducting impactful research and supporting multi-stakeholder engagement to enable policymakers to make informed decisions to control air pollution levels
Specific tasks to be undertaken by the Senior Programme Associate would include :
Support and execute the research initiatives.
Support the outreach and communication initiatives.
Programme building.
Additional Duties.
Represent iFOREST on public platforms to enhance its brand and visibility. Undertake related assignments to support the enhancement of the Air Pollution and Waste Management Programme.
Qualification & Work Experience
Bachelors / Master's degree in Agronomy, Plant Sciences, Crop Sciences, Agricultural Economics, Arid Land Agriculture, or related fields.
3 to 5 years of work experience in sustainable agriculture, preferably in rural development or NGO settings.
