Role Summary
Position Title : Head Green Chelates
Location : Pune R&D Center, India
Reporting : Head Global R&D
Direct Reports : 3-5 synthesis scientists including PhDs
Key Result Areas (KRAs) for a Head Green Chelants
1. Leadership in Green Chelates Development :
Lead and oversee the global R&D efforts focused on the development of green molecules including
Chelates, polymers, or other molecules; including molecules that are biodegradation, from green sources or others; hereafter referred as green chelants
Drive innovation and the formulation of environmentally friendly and sustainable
chelating agents, aligning with global trends in sustainable chemistry and eco-friendly
solutions.
Define and execute R&D strategies to develop high-performance, biodegradable, and
non-toxic chelates that meet the needs of key industrial applications (e.g., detergents,
water treatment, agriculture).
Benchmark the performance of existing and innovation products vs. market benchmarks and alternate technologies
2. Technical Expertise in Chelates :
Provide deep technical expertise in the development and optimization of chelating
agents, focusing on their chemical properties, synthesis,
performance, and environmental impact.
Lead research on enhancing the efficiency, stability, and environmental benefits of
chelates, with a focus on green chemistry principles.
Map the sustainability footprint of the green molecules for internal or customer needs, align with various standards and develop internal and external documentation for appropriate communication
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement :
Collaborate with cross functional and cross regional internal teams, including product management, regulatory, manufacturing, and commercial teams, to bring green chelates from development to market.
Partner with external stakeholders such as academic institutions, suppliers, and
customers to stay ahead of the latest innovations and market trends in green chelates
and sustainable chemistry.
4. Sustainability and Environmental Leadership :
Ensure that all green chelates projects meet or exceed environmental, regulatory, and
sustainability requirements, with a particular focus on minimizing the ecological
footprint of chelating agents.
Lead the development of products that align with the company’s sustainability goals,
addressing both customer and regulatory demands for eco-friendly solutions.
5. Product Development and Optimization :
Spearhead the development of new chelant variants with improved
performance characteristics, lower cost, and better biodegradability.
Focus on optimizing the synthesis process, ensuring cost-effective and scalable
production methods for green chelates.
6. Technology Transfer and Commercialization :
Oversee the technology transfer process from R&D to commercial production, ensuring
smooth scaling up of processes.
Support the commercialization of green chelates by providing the technical insights
necessary for marketing, sales, and customer education.
7. Regulatory Compliance and Market Positioning :
Ensure that all chelate products comply with international regulatory standards (e.g.,
REACH, EPA), and position the product offerings as environmentally responsible
alternatives to traditional chelates.
Lead the regulatory and safety testing of new products, ensuring that they meet market
requirements for performance and safety while maintaining a commitment to
sustainability.
8. Strategic Direction and Innovation :
Stay at the forefront of the green chemistry field, exploring new trends, alternative raw
materials, and emerging technologies that could enhance the development of, and other sustainable chelates.
Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the R&D team to
maintain the company’s competitive edge in the green chelates market.
9. Team Leadership and Development :
Build and lead a high-performing global R&D team, providing mentorship and
professional development to staff while ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Promote collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and technical excellence within the team
to drive successful product development.
