Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of observability solution using Open Telemetry across multiple applications and services
- Strong hands-on experience with Open Telemetry, including instrumentation, context propagation, and data export
- Instrument Java and Node.js applications to collect and export traces, metrics, and logs using Open Telemetry SDKs
- Proven expertise in configuring and managing the Open Telemetry Collectors
- Develop and maintain custom configurations for the Open Telemetry Collector
- Integrate Open Telemetry data with observability platforms such as Jaeger, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and cloud-specific services like Azure Monitor
- In-depth knowledge of Datadog for monitoring, logging, and APM, including custom dashboard creation and monitor configuration
- Configure and implement Datadog platform for comprehensive monitoring and alerting
- Create and maintain dashboards for visualizing application health and performance
- Create monitors and alerts in Open Telemetry and Datadog to provide actionable insights into system health and performance
- Collaborate with development teams to embed observability best practices into the software development lifecycle
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to instrumentation, data collection, and monitoring
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and tools in the observability space and propose new solutions to improve our stack
- Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
