The Role
As an APS 6 Estate Property Officer, you will work under broad direction to manage and deliver real property activities that support Defence capability nationally. You will engage broadly with stakeholders across the enterprise, other government agencies and with commercial partners to solve complex problems and proactively manage estate equities for Property Management Branch. You will conduct your work within relevant legislative and policy frameworks, and will guide senior decision making with data and evidence based recommendations. Your work will help to shape the future of the Defence estate, aligned to the National Defence Strategy. You may have supervisory responsibilities and will actively contribute to fostering a positive workplace culture. About Our Team
Estate Transformation Division (ETD) supports integration and collaboration across Defence to strengthen the resilience of the Defence Estate. Property Management Branch works closely with groups and services from across our organisation to support the delivery of a safe, secure, fit for purpose and resilient Defence estate. We engage broadly across the Commonwealth to ensure compliance with property related legislation and policy, and to ensure transparency in our mandated reporting. Property Officers work across a range of functions that include Leasing; Licencing for Civil use of the Defence Estate; Contract Management; Procurement; Project Management; Strategic Planning and Financial Management. These functions are performed across the Defence estate nationally and in a number of overseas locations. Our functions are undertaken in accordance with the Public Governance Performance and Accountability Act 2013; Lands Acquisition Act 1989; Commonwealth Procurement Rules; Commonwealth Property Management Framework; and the Energy Efficiency in Government Operations Policy. We also work in collaboration with the Department of Finance, and our contracted Whole of Australian Government property service providers.
