Role Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled Performance Test Engineer with deep expertise in JMeter and related performance testing frameworks. The role involves evaluating, optimizing, and ensuring the scalability, reliability, and resilience of enterprise-grade applications. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design performance test strategies, execute large-scale performance testing scenarios, analyze bottlenecks, and recommend optimizations across the full technology stack.
Key Responsibilities :
Performance Testing & Benchmarking :
- Design, develop, and execute performance, load, stress, endurance, spike, and chaos tests using JMeter and complementary tools (e.g., Gatling, jProfiler).
- Define test strategies, workload models, and SLAs aligned with business use cases and non-functional requirements.
- Benchmark system throughput, latency, and error rates against industry standards.
Monitoring, Analysis & Bottleneck Identification :
Implement real-time performance monitoring using tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, AppDynamics, or New Relic.Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of performance issues at the application, middleware, database, and infrastructure levels.Analyze DB AWR, ASH, and execution plans to diagnose SQL inefficiencies and recommend indexing, query rewrites, or schema optimizations.Monitor JVM performance, memory leaks, garbage collection, thread dumps, and connection pool utilization.Required Skills & Experience :
Performance Engineering Expertise :
7+ years of experience in Performance Engineering / Testing.Strong hands-on experience with JMeter (mandatory), plus exposure to Gatling, Locust, or k6 is desirable.Expertise in different types of testing : Load, Stress, Soak / Endurance, Chaos, and Scalability testing.Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in high-volume transaction systems.Technical Skills (Hands-On) :
Languages : Core Java (advanced), Python (automation scripting).Frameworks : Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Hibernate, JPA, JTA.Messaging Systems : Kafka, IBM MQ, ActiveMQ, JMS.Microservices & APIs : REST services, XML / JSON, Web Services (SOAP / REST).Application Servers : WebSphere, WebLogic, Tomcat, JBoss.Databases : Strong SQL skills, DB performance tuning, AWR / ASH analysis.Profiling & Monitoring : jProfiler, VisualVM, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Grafana, ELK stack.Build & Unit Testing : Gradle, Maven, JUnit, Mockito.Version Control & CI / CD : Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab.Additional Preferred Knowledge
Understanding of distributed architectures, caching frameworks (Hazelcast, Redis).Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).Awareness of cloud-native performance optimization (AWS, Azure, or GCP).(ref : hirist.tech)
