Role Overview : The
Area Sales Manager – General Trade (GT)
will be responsible for driving primary and secondary sales through effective distributor management, market expansion, and new product launches. The role demands strong leadership, field execution, and collaboration across cross-functional teams to ensure product visibility, availability, and growth across General Trade outlets.
Key Responsibilities :
Plan and execute new product launches – from forecasting to visibility and promotions.
Appoint and develop distributors / stockists – negotiate ROI, onboard, train, and drive performance.
Achieve monthly / quarterly sales targets and expand retail outlet coverage.
Lead and coach a team of Sales Officers, Executives, and Merchandisers.
Monitor stock flow, ensure merchandising standards, and implement trade schemes.
Track market insights, competitor activities, and consumer feedback for timely interventions.
Collaborate with internal teams – Marketing, Trade Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance.
Requirements :MBA preferred
3–8 years of
FMCG Sales experience
in the
General Trade
channel.
Proven track record in
distributor development
and
market expansion
Strong leadership, negotiation, and execution skills.
Proficiency in using
SFA, CRM tools, MS Excel & PowerPoint
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, field-driven environment.
