ServiceNow CMDB Implementation Expert

Role Overview :

We are seeking a ServiceNow CMDB Implementation Expert to lead the design, deployment, and optimization of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within the ServiceNow platform.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in CMDB architecture, discovery, service mapping, and integration with ITSM / ITOM modules, ensuring accurate configuration data and alignment with ITIL best practices.

Key Responsibilities :

Lead end-to-end implementation of ServiceNow CMDB, ensuring accurate configuration item (CI) data and relationships.

Design and maintain the CMDB data model, including CI classes, attributes, and relationships.

Configure and optimize Discovery and Service Mapping to ensure automated and reliable population of CMDB data.

Integrate CMDB with ITSM, ITOM, and other enterprise systems for real-time updates and visibility.

Define and enforce data governance, data quality, and reconciliation policies.

Develop CMDB dashboards, reports, and data health metrics.

Collaborate with stakeholders to align CMDB strategy with business and IT operations.

Conduct workshops, gather requirements, and translate business needs into technical configurations.

Provide knowledge transfer and documentation for ongoing CMDB operations and maintenance.

Required Skills & Experience :

5 years of hands-on experience in ServiceNow implementation, with at least 3+ years focused on CMDB and Discovery.

Strong understanding of ITIL processes, especially Configuration Management.

Proven experience in Service Mapping, Discovery probes / sensors, and MID Server configuration.

Proficiency in ServiceNow ITOM, ITSM, and related modules.

Experience with data integrations (REST, SOAP, API, etc.) and import sets / transform maps.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for CMDB data integrity and performance issues.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – CMDB / Discovery / ITOM preferred.
