Role Overview :
As General Manager Licensing & Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), you will spearhead global growth initiatives by driving strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and licensing opportunities. This leadership role involves shaping and executing the companys inorganic growth strategy, identifying value-creating opportunities, building strong external alliances, and ensuring smooth integration post-deal. You will work closely with senior leadership to enhance the companys competitive edge and expand its global footprint.
Key & Planning
- Define and implement the global licensing and M&A strategy aligned with the companys long-term vision.
- Monitor global market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities in Develop business cases, financial models, and board-level presentations to support Development & Licensing
- Identify and evaluate potential licensing opportunities (in-licensing and out-licensing) across key therapeutic areas.
- Build and nurture relationships with pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, research institutions, and key stakeholders.
- Negotiate licensing terms that maximize value while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.
Mergers & Acquisitions Execution
Lead the end-to-end M&A lifecycle including target identification, evaluation, deal structuring, due diligence, and closing.Collaborate with external advisors (legal, financial, regulatory) to ensure smooth execution of transactions.Oversee integration planning and execution to ensure synergies are realized and business objectives are achieved.Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership
Partner with internal cross-functional teams including R&D, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, andCommercial to align on deal strategy and execution.
Engage with global senior executives, partners, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless collaboration.Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to junior team members.Governance & Compliance
Ensure all licensing and M&A activities adhere to applicable laws, industry regulations, and internal policies.Manage risks associated with international deals, intellectual property, and compliance obligations.Key Skills & Attributes
Strong business acumen with a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical / healthcare ecosystem.Proven track record in leading complex licensing agreements and M&A transactions.Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.Ability to think strategically, anticipate industry shifts, and act decisively.Leadership presence with the ability to influence stakeholders at the highest levels.Cultural awareness and adaptability to operate effectively across global MBA, CFA, or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Business / Finance.12+ years of experience in Licensing, Corporate Strategy, or M&A (with at least 5+ years in a leadership role).Prior experience in the pharmaceutical / healthcare / life sciences sector strongly preferred.(ref : iimjobs.com)
