The Low Voltage Control Room Operator coordinates emergency response services, management of Restricted Operators accessing the Low Voltage for planned and unplanned works and provides other technical support services to ensure a safe, reliable, sustainable and affordable network for our customers.

An exciting opportunity is now available to join our Control Room Development Program, where you will have the opportunity to rotate across different areas, undertake training and on-the-job learning to become authorised as a LV Control Room Operator, taking on network operating and emergency response activities to provide a safe, reliable, sustainable and affordable network for our customers. During the Control Room Development Program the remuneration will be $130,065 + Super + shift and penalty rates where applicable as well as our Control Room incentive program.

Throughout the program, you will complete the following :

Work with and develop a familiarisation with the tasks and functions carried out by :

Control Room Operators
Field Operators
Network Outage Coordinators
Network Security Engineering Officers

Note : This is a 24 / 7 rotating shift work role.

What you bring to the role

To be successful, you will have the following skills & experience :

Licensed electrical tradesperson (Certificate III Electrotechnology) or Diploma / Advanced Diploma Power systems or Degree in Electrical engineering

Class C drivers license.

Experience and sound knowledge of Ausgrid’s low voltage network

Ability to operate Ausgrid’s Network Management System to a standard appropriate to the Low Voltage Control Room

Sound knowledge of Class 5 Restricted Operating Authority and 2B Low Voltage Fuse replacement processes

Ability to maintain Class 6C Operating Authority

Sound knowledge of customer metering, installations, appliances, standards and rules

Experience in the resolution of domestic and commercial customer enquiries and problems

Sound knowledge of the organisation’s emergency response work processes

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills

Extensive knowledge of the coordination and allocation of work to a variety of field employees

Extensive knowledge of responding to network faults and incidents, with proven conflict resolution and problem analysis skills

Extensive knowledge of the organisation’s operations and boundaries of other energy distributors

Advanced computer skills with experience in a variety of software packages, tools or general applications
