Role Overview
The Engineering Manager for the Structures Group will lead a team of engineers in the design, analysis, and testing of structural components for our launch vehicles and other structures. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and managerial skills to drive projects from conception through to execution, ensuring high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities :
- Leadership : Manage and mentor a team of structural engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Project Management : Oversee project timelines and resource allocation to ensure successful completion of engineering projects.
- Technical Oversight : Provide technical guidance in the design and analysis of structural components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams including propulsion, avionics, and manufacturing to integrate structural designs with overall vehicle systems.
- Continuous Improvement : Identify opportunities for process enhancements and lead initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the team.
Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.Experience : 12-15 years of experience in aerospace structures engineering, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.Technical Skills :
Proficiency in structural analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN).Strong understanding of materials science as it pertains to aerospace applications.Experience with finite element analysis (FEA).Managerial Skills :
Proven track record of leading engineering teams and managing complex projects.Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.Preferred Attributes :
Experience in the design and development of launch vehicles or spacecraft.Passion for innovation and a strong interest in the space industry.
