Job Description :
A National Sales Manager (NSM) in insurance broking isresponsible for developing and executing a nationwide sales strategy to achieve revenue and growth targets. The role involves leading and expanding the sales team, developing channel partnerships, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Key responsibilities
Strategy and planning
- Define and implement the national sales strategy in alignment with overall company objectives.
- Identify new business opportunities, distribution channels, and target client segments, including corporate, SME, and individual customers.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and sales data to adjust strategies and identify areas for growth.
Leadership and team management
Lead, mentor, and motivate a large sales team, which may include regional sales managers and their teams.Set national sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensure consistent achievement across all regions.Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of the sales force to build a high-performance, results-driven team.Business development
Build and maintain strategic relationships with key corporate clients and institutional partners.Lead high-value negotiations with insurers to secure competitive terms for clients.Work with underwriters and internal teams to ensure comprehensive and tailored insurance solutions are delivered.Operational and financial management
Manage the sales revenue targets and oversee the profit and loss (P&L) for the sales vertical.Prepare and present regular performance reports, growth forecasts, and competitive analysis to senior leadership.Ensure the team is fully compliant with all industry regulations, such as those from the IRDAI in India.Product and client management
Ensure the team has deep product knowledge across multiple insurance lines, including health, motor, fire, and liability.Drive client satisfaction and retention by overseeing renewals, upselling, and cross-selling.Ensure the timely and effective resolution of client issues and queries.Required skills and qualifications
Experience
Proven experience as a Sales Manager or in a similar leadership role within the insurance broking sector.A track record of driving significant sales growth and successfully managing large teams.Education
A bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field is typically required.Key competencies
