We are seeking a seasoned and highly-networked Senior Associate Logistics & Customs Compliance to manage Operations The ideal candidate is an expert in Indian customs regulations with extensive hands-on experience working as a Customs House Agent (CHA).
He will be responsible for building and managing our ground-level logistics operations, ensuring seamless, compliant, and cost-effective clearance of all shipments across various Indian ports.
- Customs & Regulatory Compliance :
- Spearhead all customs clearance activities for both import and export shipments, ensuring 100% compliance with the Customs Act, 1962, and related regulations.
- Handle all documentation required for clearance, including Bill of Entry, Shipping Bill, and other related paperwork.
- Act as the final authority on HSN classification, duty calculations, and benefits claims under various trade agreements and government schemes.
- Operational Excellence & SOP Development :
- Develop, implement, and refine on-ground Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the entire shipment lifecycle, from pre-arrival to final delivery.
- Create and manage detailed operational checklists to ensure accuracy, prevent delays, and minimize risks during the customs clearance process.
- Proactively identify potential bottlenecks in the logistics chain and implement effective solutions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all on-ground escalations and resolve any issues related to customs, shipping lines, and transportation.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience : A minimum of 2-5 years of proven experience in customs clearance and logistics, with a significant portion of that time spent working directly for a licensed CHA firm.CHA Certification (Mandatory) : Must possess or have previously held a valid CHA card (e.g., G-Card or H-Card) under the Customs Brokers Licensing Regulations (CBLR). This is a non-negotiable requirement.Expert Knowledge : In-depth, practical knowledge of Indian Customs law, tariff classification, valuation, INCOTERMS, and port / CFS operations.Network : A strong, established network of contacts within the customs and logistics community across major Indian airports.Skills :Excellent on working with teamsStrong problem-solving and negotiation skills.Exceptional attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset.Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
