Working collaboratively with your Team Leader, you will contribute to the development and support the delivery of corporate strategies and initiatives that drive enhanced Aboriginal employment, development, and retention.
You will lead and provide specialist support and advice to managers and Aboriginal employees and act as an escalation point for complex cases. You’ll provide support to managers and Aboriginal employees throughout the employee lifecycle.
Here are some key tasks :
- Maintain strong relationships, engagement and consultation with Aboriginal communities, organisations, external networks and internal stakeholders to further Aboriginal employment
- Support the coaching of the Aboriginal Advisors in their work with Aboriginal employees and their managers to identify critical employee development and employment initiatives
- Partner with key stakeholders across the business on the development of career entry and other programs for Aboriginal people
- Coach and provide guidance to the talent acquisition team in providing input into culturally appropriate recruitment practices and approaches
- Support the delivery of Aboriginal pastoral care, mentoring programs, and peer support networks
- Design and develop Aboriginal specific employment and leadership pathways for Aboriginal employees in consultation with business areas
- Compile reports and commentary on matters pertaining to Aboriginal employment, retention, development, and engagement
Your Skills & Experience :
- This position relates to Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984, where Aboriginality is considered a genuine occupational qualification for this position
- Substantial knowledge of Aboriginal culture and history and impacts of past and present policies on Aboriginal communities and people
- Tertiary level qualification in Human Resources or considerable experience working in Aboriginal engagement including employment, development & retention
- Considerable experience in program and / or strategy development
- An understanding of barriers to equality of opportunity and diversity within large complex organisations
- Experience or knowledge of Aboriginal pastoral care principles
- Current knowledge of relevant discrimination legislation (State and Commonwealth) including Equal Opportunity Act 1984, Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012, and Fair Work Act 2009 best practice with a proven capacity to apply legislation
- Ability to travel intra-state
- Current C class drive licence
