Senior Java Software Engineer

Weigandt Consulting is a professional services company specializing in IT solutions for leading retail enterprises.Our expertise spans application management and support, ERP system implementation, integration and modernization, as well as prebuilt retail solutions, custom software development, and IT staff augmentation.We are committed to delivering high-quality services that drive long-term success and measurable value for our clients.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine technical strategies and lead the design of distributed systems in Java 21 with Spring.Apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD), event sourcing, and microservices patterns at scale.Architect and optimise solutions using relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Couchbase, Cassandra).Design and operate event streaming platforms (Kafka) for real-time and scalable data integration.Drive adoption of cloud-native practices on Azure with Kubernetes (AKS) and Terraform.Build robust CI / CD pipelines and automate quality gates, including security and performance checks.Ensure observability and resilience through Splunk dashboards, logging, and alerts.Profile, optimise, and debug complex distributed systems.Champion best practices in code quality, testing, and maintainability.Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and engineers across teams to align business and technical strategies.Mentor engineers, support hiring, and contribute to organisational capability building.Identify and address architectural gaps to simplify integration with peer systems.Consistently lead the delivery of valuable features while driving process improvements.Requirements6+ years of professional software engineering experience in the JVM ecosystem.Deep expertise in Java , Spring Boot, Microservices, and event-driven architectures.Strong experience with event streaming platforms (Kafka).Solid experience with Azure, Kubernetes, and Terraform.Proven ability to work with multiple database paradigms (relational and NoSQL).Strong understanding of concurrency, scalability, and distributed system design.Experience building and governing CI / CD pipelines and automating testing / security.Track record of technical leadership and mentoring.English fluency (min.
