Senior Consultant - Backstage Developer

Responsibilities :

Role Profile We are seeking an experienced and passionate Backstage Lead to champion and drive the development, adoption, and ongoing evolution of our Internal Developer Portal (IDP) offering built on Backstage.io. In this role, you will lead a team of talented engineers, collaborate closely with various engineering teams, and define the strategic roadmap for our Backstage instance. You will be instrumental in creating a seamless and delightful developer experience that enhances productivity, promotes best practices, and fosters a strong inner-source culture. Key Responsibilities

Backstage Strategy & Roadmap : Define and execute the strategic vision and roadmap for our Backstage offering, aligning it with overall platform engineering and business objectives.

Team Leadership & Mentorship : Lead, mentor, and technically guide a team of Backstage engineers

Backstage Development & Customization : Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of custom Backstage plugins, extensions, and integrations to meet organizational needs. Manage and optimize the Backstage configuration and deployment processes.

Service Catalog Management : Drive the growth and accuracy of the Service Catalog within Backstage, ensuring seamless service discovery, ownership tracking, and metadata management.

Integration & Ecosystem Development : Integrate Backstage with critical internal, external tools and platforms (e.g., CI / CD pipelines like Jenkins / GitLab Kubernetes, monitoring systems like Prometheus / , documentation platforms like Confluence / TechDocs, version control systems like GitHub / GitLab). Identify opportunities to leverage Backstage features (e.g., Software Templates, TechDocs, Cost Insights).

Cross-Functional Collaboration : Collaborate effectively with SRE, DevOps, security, and other engineering teams to ensure Backstage integrates seamlessly into the broader infrastructure.

Technical and Professional Requirements :

Skills Required

Bachelor's in computer science or a related field

At least 6+ years of experience with strong proficiency in ReactJS, Redux, Node.js and TypeScript

Strong understanding of platform engineering principles, DevOps practices, CI / CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

Familiarity with RESTful, GraphQL APIs and microservices architecture

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring and guiding technical teams

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
