Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Global Trade Compliance Specialist to join our Supply Chain business at our Ashland India, Mumbai, Maharashtra. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Supply Chain function. This position will report to Manager.
As the Global Trade Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for continual review and interpretation of regulatory requirements to manage import-export compliance and assist in assurance that the import and export activities are executed in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
This role is also accountable for taking necessary steps to ensure that all levels of the organization are aware of Ashland's commitment to comply with all government regulatory requirements and act as the liaison to the organization on matters related to import-export compliance. The individual hired will work on a global team with peers in four other countries, who collaborate to support Ashland’s global trade compliance around the world.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Responsible for HS Classification for new materials, extended materials and samples, and manage GTS HS code entry
- Responsible for reclassification according to tariff changes for each country, review HS classification and manage classification changes
- Work as a member of Global Classification Council to address HS classification disputes, discuss complex classification and manage changes
- Responsible for material qualification for FTA and conduct compliance review annually
- Be responsible for determination of country of origin and system maintenance
- Address Customs inquiries (classification, price, COO, etc.) and Customs audits and serve as liaison with Customs for India and other south Asia countries as assigned.
- Audit on import entries and export declarations and report with findings, work with the team for root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Provide trainings to the organization on regulation, programs, procedures and trade compliance related topics
- Understand import / export requirements for the countries supported (India and other South Asia countries) and provide expertise for any import and export compliance related questions, solve compliance issues and work on improvements for identified gaps
- Monitor regulation developments, interpretate the regulatory requirements, evaluate the impact, recommend the actions / changes / process required and communicate effectively
- Support the import and export process and establish, standardize or improve the process to eliminate risks and ensure compliance
- Manage duty condition for accruals with Ashland’s ERP system
- Evaluate the license / registration requirement related to trade compliance for new business, maintain and support the application for required licenses as identified
- Daily support to supply chain, commercial unit inquiries
- Identify benefits / duty savings opportunities through tariff strategies, utilization of FTA and other trade programs / policies and maintain the program
- Support monitoring of Ashland GTS system for compliance blocks, SPL, legal control, and sanctions as needed
- Global Duty designee to gather and report upon Duty savings and spend globally Support other global or regional initiatives and projects as required or assigned

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following :
At least 5 years’ experience in trade compliance, import and export compliance or equivalent area.Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all timesThe ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating the new and different.
