Job Summary :
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient BigQuery Project Administrator with 3+ years of experience on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically BigQuery. This role focuses on project and cost governance, query optimization, and performance improvements. You will collaborate closely with engineering, architecture, and finance teams to ensure efficient, scalable, and cost-effective use of BigQuery resources.
Key Responsibilities :
Optimization & Performance Tuning
- Analyze query patterns, access logs, and usage metrics to recommend schema optimizations (partitioning, clustering, materialized views)
- Identify opportunities to improve BigQuery performance and reduce storage / computation costs
- Collaborate with engineers to refactor inefficient queries and optimize data workloads
Project & Cost Governance
Monitor and manage BigQuery project structures, billing configurations, quotas, and resource usageImplement and enforce cost control measures, quotas, and budget alertsCreate regular reports on usage, cost trends, and anomalies for stakeholdersCollaboration & Support
Serve as a bridge between engineering and finance teams for BigQuery-related planning and decisionsSupport onboarding of new teams into the BigQuery environmentProvide training and guidance on best practices and cost-efficient usageBest Practices & Compliance
Define and advocate for BigQuery usage standards and best practicesEnsure adherence to data governance, security, and privacy policiesMaintain documentation on project setup, governance workflows, and optimization strategiesQualifications :
3+ years of hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with a focus on BigQueryStrong understanding of SQL, data warehousing, and cloud cost managementExperience with GCP billing, IAM (Identity and Access Management), and resource configurationPreferred Certifications :
