Description : Position Overview :
The Senior Associate, Product Management will drive innovation within our Medical Coding domain, serving as the Product Owner for a dedicated scrum team based in Chennai. This role is responsible for translating complex business and clinical coding needs into scalable product capabilities that improve coding accuracy, automation, compliance, and throughput.
You will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, data science, UX design, and operations teams to design and deliver products that enhance revenue cycle performance while maintaining high standards of compliance and user experience.
Key Responsibilities :
Product Ownership & Strategy :
- Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle for a defined Medical Coding workstream within athenahealths Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) platform.
- Develop and maintain a well-prioritized product backlog aligned with company objectives and user needs.
- Partner with senior product leadership to shape strategic initiatives, define measurable outcomes, and influence roadmap direction using data-driven insights.
Discovery, Design, and Delivery :
Conduct discovery sessions with healthcare providers, coders, and operations teams to validate pain points and assess automation opportunities.Translate complex user requirements into detailed epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria, ensuring clarity and testability.Collaborate with UX designers to define user flows, interfaces, and experiences that improve coding efficiency and usability.Partner with data science teams to leverage ML / AI models for code prediction, validation, and error detection in CPT / HCPCS / ICD-10 workflows.Technical Collaboration :
Work closely with engineering teams to operationalize automation and ensure robust integration across athenanet and RCM services.Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release reviews, ensuring development aligns with product intent and technical feasibility.Define and monitor key product metrics (adoption rate, automation percentage, error reduction, throughput, and SLA adherence).Execution Excellence :
Drive release readiness through cross-functional coordination including documentation, enablement, change management, and rollout plans.Perform post-release evaluations to assess performance, gather feedback, and iterate for continuous improvement.Ensure compliance and auditability in all product deliverables, maintaining alignment with regulatory and healthcare coding standards.Stakeholder & Communication Management :
Provide regular updates to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders through dashboards, product requirement documents (PRDs), and decision memos.Manage dependencies, risks, and resource needs proactively across teams and business units.Serve as a thought partner to operations and BPO partners in scaling automation initiatives and enhancing productivity.Required Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related technical discipline.5+ years of professional experience, with at least 2- 3 years in product management or product ownership within technology-driven organizations.Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies and experience leading agile development teams.Proven ability to define and deliver products in complex ecosystems integrating technology, compliance, and user experience.Demonstrated expertise in translating analytical insights into actionable product strategies.Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence without authority in a matrixed environment.(ref : hirist.tech)
