Core dutiesAnalyze specimens : Examine blood, tissue samples, and other bodily fluids to identify diseases, abnormalities, or infectious agents. Perform laboratory tests : Conduct a variety of tests, including microscopic examinations and molecular or genetic assays, to aid in diagnosis. Write pathology reports : Document detailed findings and diagnoses from test results for other medical professionals. Provide consultations : Work with other physicians to interpret test results and provide clinical consultation on patient diagnoses and treatment plans.
