Job Description : Factory Quality Manager

Location : Bengaluru

Department : Central Quality Manufacturing Quality

Type : Full-Time

Experience : 2-5 years in Manufacturing Quality / Process Quality / QC Systems

Role Objective The Factory Quality Manager will be the owner of product quality inside the plant, responsible for ensuring defect-free builds through robust processes, operator discipline, and proactive detection. This role will anchor in-line QC, outgoing inspection, and layered audits, while also integrating with supplier traceability (Nexus) and product improvement loops.

Your mandate : Zero escapes from factory to customer.

Key Responsibilities

1. Process Quality & In-Line Control

Define and enforce critical-to-quality (CTQ) checks at key assembly stages

Establish Layered Process Audits (LPA) daily by line leads, weekly by QA Validate SPMs / jigs / fixtures for accuracy, repeatability, and operator friendliness

Run first-piece approval at shift start / changeover

Establish document control, defect logging, and audit frameworks aligned to ISO 9001

2. Outgoing Quality & Final Inspection

Own OQC gate : only defect-free units shipped

Build outgoing inspection SOPs (performance, aesthetics, trace checks)

Track First Pass Yield (FPY), rework %, and escapes Implement containment plans for field-returned issues

3. Quality Systems & Traceability Integration

Ensure barcode traceability is captured at assembly level and linked to Nexus project

Maintain defect logging & Pareto analysis for factory issues

Drive closure of internal NCRs with production and engineering

Conduct internal process capability (CpK) checks for critical operations

4. People, Training & Culture

Train operators and line supervisors on quality ownership and visual SOPs

Run daily defect huddles and escalate chronic issues

Build culture of right first time rather than rework / repair

Act as the voice of quality in daily production meetings

Required Experience & Skills Education : B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering Certifications in Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma (preferred)

Experience : 2-5 years in factory quality or manufacturing engineering (appliances, electronics, auto, white goods preferred) Experience managing in-line QC teams and final inspection gates Strong track record of driving FPY improvement and defect reduction

Skills : Hands-on with AQL, CpK, SPC, PFMEA, Control Plans Familiarity with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 quality systems Ability to lead cross-functional root cause analysis (RCA) and implement countermeasures Strong leadership for managing line inspectors and operators

Success Metrics

More Than 98% First Pass Yield (FPY) on factory line

Less Than 0.5% outgoing defect rate (escapes to customer)

100% completion of daily LPAs and more than 90% audit compliance

100% of factory NCRs closed within 7 working days
