garment QC (Quality Control) role involves inspecting garments and fabrics throughout the production process to ensure they meet quality standards, including checking for defects, proper stitching, correct measurements, and overall workmanship. Key responsibilities include documenting issues, coordinating with production teams to resolve problems, performing in-line and final inspections, and ensuring compliance with buyer and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection :
Examine fabrics, stitching, fitting, measurements, and finishing details.
Count stitches per inch and check for issues like loose threads, puckering, or uneven patterns.
Inspect raw materials, in-process items, and finished products for defects or non-conformities.
Quality Assurance :
Implement and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for quality control.
Ensure all products meet buyer and industry specifications and standards.
Conduct inline audits during cutting, sewing, and finishing stages.
Reporting & Documentation :
Identify, document, and report any defects or quality issues.
Maintain records of quality control activities and prepare reports.
Communicate quality issues to management and production teams.
Problem-Solving :
Coordinate with production and design teams to resolve identified quality issues.
Investigate and help resolve customer complaints related to product quality.
Teamwork & Training :
Train and mentor other quality control or production personnel on quality standards and best practices.
Collaborate with other departments, including production, procurement, and design.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong knowledge of garment construction and textile production processes.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Familiarity with quality control standards, processes, and quality management systems (QMS).
Proficiency in using relevant quality management tools and software.
Experience in the textile or apparel industry is often preferred
