jewellery Quality Control (QC) professional inspects jewelry to ensure it meets company and industry standards, identifying defects in craftsmanship, stones, settings, and finish. Key responsibilities include conducting detailed checks, documenting issues, collaborating with production for corrections, maintaining quality records, and contributing to process improvements. The role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of jewelry materials like gold and diamonds, proficiency with inspection tools, and excellent organizational and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Perform Inspections : Conduct detailed quality checks on finished jewelry pieces, including stones, settings, polish, and overall craftsmanship, to ensure they meet design specifications and quality benchmarks.
Identify & Document Defects : Identify and document any defects or inconsistencies, such as loose stones, porosity in castings, or improper settings, using magnification tools and industry-standard instruments.
Collaborate with Production : Work closely with production and design teams to address and resolve identified quality issues, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Maintain Records : Keep detailed records of quality control checks, findings, and defect reports for internal reference and audit purposes.
Improve Processes : Contribute to the continuous improvement of quality control processes and develop preventive actions to reduce defects.
Ensure Compliance : Ensure products comply with internal standards and industry regulations, including proper hallmarking and material purity.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Jewelry Product Knowledge : Strong understanding of jewelry materials, including gold, diamonds, and other gemstones, their properties, and common defects.
Technical Proficiency : Ability to use tools like loupes, magnification tools, and potentially x-ray fluorescence (XRF) machines or fire assay equipment for material analysis.
Attention to Detail : Exceptional attention to detail to identify even minor flaws or inconsistencies in design and execution.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills : Ability to analyze quality data, identify root causes of defects, and develop effective solutions.
Communication & Collaboration : Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with production teams, designers, and other stakeholders.
Organizational Skills : Strong organizational abilities to manage documentation, maintain records, and support quality management systems.

Checking if stones are securely set and correctly placed.
Inspecting castings for flaws like porosity, blisters, and cracks.
Verifying the aesthetic appeal and functional utility of the jewelry.
Ensuring consistent color and clarity of gemstones and diamonds.
Confirming that chains are free from kinks and their clasps are functional.
Assessing the precision of chains and jump rings, ensuring they are properly aligned.
