Database Migration Engineer – Oracle to PostgreSQL

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Database Migration Engineer to lead and execute the migration of databases from Oracle to PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in database administration, migration strategies, and performance optimization, ensuring a seamless transition with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

Database Migration : Plan and execute the migration of databases from Oracle (11g / 12c / 19c) to PostgreSQL (12+), including schema, data, and logic conversion

Code Refactoring : Convert and optimize PL / SQL code to PL / pgSQL, ensuring functional equivalency and performance improvements.

Performance Tuning : Analyze and optimize database performance post-migration, addressing issues related to query performance, indexing, and data retrieval

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience : Minimum of 3–8 years in database migration and administration, with a focus on Oracle to PostgreSQL migrations

Database Proficiency : Strong command of SQL, PL / SQL, and PL / pgSQL.

Migration Tools : Experience with tools like ora2pg, pgLoader, AWS DMS, and Flyway.

Performance Optimization : Proficiency in PostgreSQL performance tuning, indexing, and replication
