Job Title : Senior Migration Engineer
EXP : 10 - 12 years
Position Summary :
We are looking for an experienced Senior Migration Engineer to lead complex migration projects across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in infrastructure, application, and data migration, with proven experience in planning, executing, and optimizing enterprise-scale migrations.
You will work closely with project managers, architects, and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless transitions with minimal downtime, meeting both technical and business goals.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Migration Planning & Design :
- Assess existing infrastructure, applications, and workloads to create migration strategies.
- Design end-to-end migration architectures for cloud, hybrid, or on-premises environments.
- Define migration scope, timelines, and risk mitigation plans.
2. Execution & Implementation :
Lead the migration of servers, databases, applications, M365, and storage systems.Use industry-standard tools such as Azure Migrate, AWS Migration Hub, Quest ODM, Cloudamize, ShareGate, and native utilities.Implement cutover strategies, ensuring minimal disruption to Technical Leadership :Serve as the SME for migration methodologies, tools, and best practices.Mentor junior engineers and support technical teams during complex migrations.Coordinate with architects to align with cloud adoption frameworks and governance policies.4. Performance & Optimization :
Troubleshoot migration issues and optimize performance during transitions.Validate data integrity, application functionality, and system performance post-migration.Document lessons learned and recommend process Collaboration & Communication :Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and share progress updates.Work with security and compliance teams to meet regulatory standards.Prepare detailed migration runbooks, test plans, and rollback Skills & Experience :8+ years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in migration-focused roles.Strong expertise in Azure, AWS, M365, or GCP.Hands-on experience with :
Infrastructure migration (VMware, Hyper-V, physical to cloud)Application migrationData migration (SQL, file systems, SharePoint, Exchange)Proficiency in PowerShell, scripting, and migration automation.Strong understanding of networking, identity, and security in migration contexts.Proven track record with large-scale, enterprise-grade migration projects.Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.Preferred Qualifications : :
Microsoft Certified : Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, M365 Enterprise Administrator Expert.
Experience with tenant-to-tenant migrations and cross-cloud DR setups.Knowledge of DevOps pipelines and IaC tools (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).(ref : hirist.tech)
