Deposition Product Group at Lam India Global Hardware Technology (LIGHT) is hiring a Staff Mechanical Engineer for its product development engineering and product ownership team

The Impact You’ll Make

As a Mechanical Engineer at Lam, you will design and develop cutting-edge mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for our wafer fabrication equipment. Your role involves feasibility studies, conceptual design and prototyping, technical risk mitigation through engineering calculations and analysis, testing and validation, and guiding teams in detailed design, documentation, and fabrication. You provide the crucial design information needed to shape our technology's packaging. In this role, you will directly contribute to Lam Deposition Engineering's product development programs.

What You’ll Do

• End-to-end ownership of complex sub-systems and system design for advanced semiconductor processing equipment, including process chambers, vacuum systems, gas and liquid chemical delivery, frames, pedestals, showerheads, thermal, power and motion controls
• System-level mechanical design, involving one or more of structural, thermal, flow, RF, and electro-mechanical domains of mechanical engineering
• Responsible for project planning, scope assessment, concept development, technical risk mitigation through engineering analysis and calculations, dFMEA, DfX, detailed design with comprehensive test plans, design validation, documentation, and release
• Collaborate with local and global cross-functional teams : electrical engineering, systems engineering, software, product support, process engineering, product and program management, and supplier engineering, on the design and fabrication of proprietary sub-systems, and the selection and modification of OEM components
• Work with potential suppliers to ensure parts can be manufactured as per performance and cost objectives
• Develop and present reports / presentations to communicate design intent, analysis, and validation in engineering design and program reviews
• Lead troubleshooting, structured investigations, RCCAs, and implementation of solutions, for equipment safety, line down, reliability, and productivity issues
• Participate & provide guidance in product CIPs, innovation programs, customer interactions, and solutions for customer escalations
• Make design decisions on product configuration & strategy
• Review design work done by junior engineers and provide them with technical mentorship
• Publish new or enhance existing design standards & BKMs

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer / supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer / supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
