Operational Risk & Control has a mission to help Operations Management effectively identify and manage key operational risks through implementation of an integrated internal control framework and risk management strategy across Operations. Our aim is to support Operations colleagues through targeted, risk prioritized, control activities focusing resources on areas where risk is higher and ensure the value of control efforts is maximised.

What You'll Be DOING

What will your essential responsibilities include

  • Supporting all Middle Office teams in their successful compliance with best practice internal control standards and regulatory requirements (also known internally as Internal Financial Controls ('IFC')), including executing follow-up and tracking procedures.
  • Providing key support for Operational Risk activities, particularly monthly Dashboard reporting to Middle Office management.
  • Responsible for the operation of and reporting on centralized controls for Middle Office and ESS, such as payment authority levels, write off limits, segregation of duties for system access etc.
  • Scoping, testing, and assessing changes to existing IFC or other control reports whether driven by user request, changes in business processes / systems or external environment e.g., legal entity changes. Key responsibility for data testing, reconciliation, and documentation.
  • Responsible for maintaining Business Process Documentation for IFC and other centralized controls and ensuring timely completion / sign off by stakeholders.
  • Supporting Middle Office colleagues in their use of key control tool, including managing accesses, updating team structures and training.
  • Participating in and providing support to risk monitoring and control related activities for any processes within Operations functions as required.
  • Providing collaborative support and training on day to day activities for less experienced team member(s).

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Understanding of Operational Risk and principles behind effective control design and operation.
  • Excellent Excel skills; sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint.
  • Data handling and analytical skills. Ability to extract and present data effectively, aligned with business priorities to provide appropriate insights to management.
  • Desired Skills And Abilities

  • Good attention to detail, able to analyze and identify discrepancies, and pursue through to adequate conclusion.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and subsequent remediation planning.
  • Ideally knowledge of Policy Admin systems - Frame and GENIUS.
