About The Opportunity

Higher education institutions are rapidly evolving into modern campuses, leveraging cloud technologies to drive student success. We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our ERP Production Operations team and contribute to the modernization of Ellucian's applications, enabling a true SaaS experience.As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will play a hands-on role in supporting daily operations for Ellucian's largest and second-largest SaaS SIS platforms. You will work closely with internal Cloud and R&D teams to improve operational efficiency, enhance monitoring, and drive automation. Your contributions will directly impact uptime, customer experience, and service reliability in a high-volume production environment.This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an agile environment, has deep technical expertise in Linux / Windows-based systems, and is passionate about automation, observability, and continuous improvement. Where you will make an impact

• Provide advanced system administration and operational support for cloud-based environments.
• Monitor infrastructure health and performance, ensuring adherence to internal and external SLAs.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to streamline operations and reduce manual tasks.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of self-healing and auto-recovery solutions to improve incident response and uptime.
• Participate in on-call rotations and assist in root cause analysis and problem management for critical incidents.
• Collaborate with Cloud Engineering, DevOps, and Application teams to support deployment, monitoring, and scaling of services.
• Enhance observability by contributing to the development and adoption of monitoring and alerting tools.
• Document operational procedures, runbooks, and best practices to improve team efficiency and knowledge sharing.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and agile ceremonies, learning best practices and contributing constructively.
• Debug and troubleshoot technical issues, both in development and production environments.
• Write clean, maintainable code with appropriate documentation and unit / integration tests.
• Learn and apply design patterns, system architecture principles, and best practices for performance and scalability.
• Ensure adherence to security standards, accessibility guidelines, and compliance requirements.
• Embrace and contribute to the team culture of knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and mutual respect.
• Mentor junior engineers and share expertise through code reviews, knowledge sessions, and documentation.
• Demonstrate curiosity and aptitude for leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity and problem-solving.
