Position overview

  • 5-Year Maximum Term Contract, Full-Time opportunity
  • True hybrid working – work from home and our Mitcham office
  • $230,496 Total Remuneration Package inclusive of 12% superannuation

The Role

We are seeking a strategic leader to drive an efficient and effective shared service across our Asset Services Group. In this role, you will lead the Asset Portfolio Management Office to support the successful delivery of our capital program through strong planning, governance and performance oversight.

You will also enhance delivery partnerships and commercial outcomes by developing and implementing strategic procurement and partnership strategies that improve efficiency, customer service and risk management.

Another key focus will be building future workforce capability by championing technical learning and development aligned with business needs and Asset Services priorities.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the Asset Portfolio Management Office, including capital delivery governance, program management, commercial partnerships, procurement, and contractor accreditation services.
  • Provide strategic leadership and insights to guide asset capital investment programs, ensuring alignment with organisational governance, standards, budgets, and long-term asset management plans.
  • Manage cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and meeting quality and compliance requirements, supporting enterprise governance and price submissions.
  • Drive robust assurance, reporting, and performance tracking frameworks to enable informed decision-making and continuous improvement across the portfolio.
  • Develop and implement procurement and partnership strategies that improve delivery efficiency, customer service, risk management, and capability across project and asset lifecycle management.
  • Oversee group-wide learning and development programs, including technical pathways and enterprise capability uplift initiatives in project and contract management.
  • Foster strong collaboration and strategic partnerships internally across departments and externally with delivery partners, industry bodies, and stakeholders to support shared objectives and innovation.
  • Serve as a senior leader within the Asset Services Group, managing a multi-disciplinary division, and driving continuous improvement and innovation in project, program, and partnership management.
  • Oversee divisional financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, business case development, and alignment with enterprise governance and financial frameworks.
  • What we’re looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering – Mandatory
  • Previous experience in water and / or utilities industry is highly regarded
  • In depth knowledge and experience in strategic procurement, commercial management and contract lifecycle management.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, influence and communication skills across multiple levels of an organisation.
  • Knowledge of engineering procedures, standards, policies and practices related to design and construction activities
  • Proven experience managing process change and driving innovation initiatives within organisations
  • Strong knowledge and application of Portfolio Management Office best practices, including governance, reporting and resource coordination
  • Expertise in program management practices, with the ability to oversee multiple related projects to achieve strategic objectives
