Senior Cloud Engineer

Responsibilities What will you contribute? As an important member of the team, this position is responsible for developing and maintaining our Infrastructure Management Platform (IMP) and strategy across Finastra locations including Azure cloud provider, supporting internal and external customer's operational needs. IMP is an API and IAC based self-service platform to streamline the building of cloud resources for skill sets ranging from beginner to advanced users it provides consistent deployments across Finastra Cloud Tenants that align with Finastra standards for security, availability, management, governance, deployment, configuration management, monitoring, identity and access management, service management and cost management. For this role one set of internal customers are our Product Management and Professional services divisions; and their solutions that we will be supporting are cloud managed services delivering solutions in the lending, trade, banking, payments and treasury sectors. The other set of internal customers are the Finastra internal teams that deliver corporate services. The successful candidate will use their skills to design, build and develop the IAC platform and integrate solutions spanning moderately complex technical and business capability domains with cost and strategic implications. Solutions may consist of proven or unproven technologies or multiple implementation technologies at once within domains that experience rapid change. Reporting to the Infrastructure Management Platform, Product Manager, the Senior Cloud Engineer will implement new features, be involved in upgrades, and you will be involved in designing solutions for the customer needs, working closely with regional teams. Responsibilities & Deliverables : Your deliverables as Senior Cloud Engineer will include, but are not limited to, the following : Planning, designing, and engineering of Infrastructure Management Platform for Finastra Azure Cloud Tenants based on well-defined API contracts. Working closely with other Architects, Developers, Product Managers and Program Managers; and may provide support to more senior staff to ensure the designs align with the technological and business directions of the enterprise Development and maintenance of Self-service IAC platform that aligns with Finastra standards for security, availability, management, governance, deployment, configuration management, monitoring, identity and access management, service management and cost management across Finastra Azure cloud tenants. The IAC platform solution involve Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Identity and Access Management (IAM). Ensuring the solutions developed comply with relevant regulations, internal architectural standards, and internal security and data assessments. Extend the platform capabilities based on the deployment architectures and designs for the Finastra solutions deployed as cloud managed services, including creating and delivering against the architecture roadmap for the solutions. Supporting cost modelling for solution architectures developed and maintaining cost models in-line with changes to the deployment architectures across Finastra Azure Cloud Tenants. Implement new features as specified Participate in upgrades Respect high level coding and design standards, and quality best practices Investigate technical and functional defects and propose adequate solutions Ensure that development tasks meet business requirements and goals and fulfil end-user requirements Effective communication and mentoring junior Technical Consultants. Required Experience : (Application Name) technical knowledge 4+ years of practical experience in the field of software development and cloud infrastructure engineering. 4+ years of experience in a Cloud Engineer role including at least one public cloud. Working within a culture of focus, organizing your work through sprint planning and reviews throughout a project life cycle Participating in all standard Scrum / agile cadence practices including Daily Stand Up, Sprint Planning, Release Planning, Sprint Retrospective, and Backlog refinement activities. Experience with cloud service deployments spanning multiple years in highly complex environments Ability in building analytics and reporting related to cloud management Excellent understanding of cloud native technologies and cloud computing architecture, technical design and implementations, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery models. Excellent customer service and communication (oral / written) skills required. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills and ability to think “out of the box” required. Must be able to work independently or with a team, under minimum supervision. Proven knowledge of Python and Go programming languages. Proven knowledge on Terraform IAC, Azure Cloud services, Software development, CI / CD. Demonstrates problem solving skills through engineering solutions. Strong client focus and impeccable professional integrity A degree in computer science or equivalent work experience Strong C / C++ / C# skills Good spoken and written English Good Unix, Linux or Windows skills SQL on Oracle, Sybase or MS SQL Effective interpersonal communication skills and transparency Ability to work in a team environment Knowledge of software development life cycles is a plus
