AEMO at the Heart of Energy
AEMO is Australia’s independent energy system and market operator and system planner. AEMO’s purpose is to ensure safe, reliable and affordable energy today, and enable the energy transition for the benefit of all Australians. Australian governments are now committed to a net zero economy for Australia by 2050 and our vision is to enable this. We have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to co-design the future of our energy systems, and our core values revolve around character, commitment, and connection. Join us as we contribute to this significant transition in the energy sector.
About the role
The Operations Department is central to fulfilling AEMO’s obligations in the National Electricity Rules for the operation of the power system that supports the National Electricity Market (NEM). Within the Operations Department, the Systems Capability Division is responsible, through close collaboration with asset owners and users, for managing the networks AEMO operates. The Systems Performance team ensures that market ancillary services, such as frequency control and asset performance remain as expected; assists in rectifying compliance issues; and plays an important role in developing the procedures and specifications that govern system and asset performance.
In this position you will provide expertise for the monitoring of frequency performance and development of ancillary services within the NEM. Effective frequency monitoring and services development contribute to the effective introduction of new generation connections, and to the effective operation of the NEM generation fleet. This in turn supports AEMO in meeting its obligations under the National Electricity Rules.
