Position Summary
The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for process design, operation, and optimization of ZLD systems integrated into Oil & Gas wastewater management networks. This includes ensuring optimal recovery of reusable water, reduction of waste streams, and adherence to process safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for ZLD systems in refinery or upstream operations.
- Perform mass and energy balances for evaporation, crystallization, and RO systems treating high-TDS or hydrocarbon-laden wastewater.
- Monitor and analyze ZLD performance metrics to identify opportunities for improving efficiency, water recovery, and energy utilization.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and recommend corrective process adjustments or system modifications.
- Support the commissioning, performance testing, and handover of new or upgraded ZLD systems.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, design documents, and plant operating manuals.
- Collaborate with E&I and mechanical teams for control strategy improvements and process integration.
- Evaluate new technologies for brine minimization and water reuse in oilfield and refinery operations.
- Provide technical mentorship and training to junior engineers and operations staff.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering.7–12 years of relevant experience in process engineering of ZLD, ETP, or produced water treatment systems within the Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or refinery sector.Deep knowledge of process design and optimization for high-salinity and hydrocarbon-contaminated wastewater.Familiarity with key unit operations : MEE, MVR, RO, crystallizers, and pre-treatment systems.Proficiency in process simulation tools (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or equivalent).Strong understanding of process safety, control systems, and energy management principles.Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
