Job Title : Purchase Manager – Food Industry

Job Purpose :
To manage and oversee the procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, consumables, and other operational supplies essential for the production and distribution of food products, while ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and timely availability.
Key Responsibilities :
- Procurement Planning & Strategy
- Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies aligned with company goals.
- Forecast material requirements based on production schedules and sales projections.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers for raw materials, packaging, and services.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors to ensure best value procurement.
- Conduct regular supplier performance reviews (quality, delivery, compliance).
- Cost & Budget Control
- Monitor and control procurement budgets.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
- Conduct market analysis to track material price trends.
- Quality & Compliance
- Ensure purchased items meet food safety and quality standards (FSSAI / HACCP / ISO).
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance (QA) for vendor audits and material testing.
- Maintain documentation for compliance and audit requirements.
- Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate with production, stores, quality, and finance departments for smooth operations.
- Monitor purchase order status, delivery timelines, and resolve supply issues.
- Prepare periodic procurement reports for management review.
- System & Process Management
- Maintain data in ERP / procurement systems.
- Continuously improve purchasing processes and supplier relationships.
Key Skills & Competencies :
Strong negotiation and analytical skillsGood understanding of raw materials (grains, dairy, spices, etc.) and packaging materialsKnowledge of food industry standards and supplier compliance requirementsProficiency in MS Office and ERP systemsExcellent communication and vendor management skillsQualifications & Experience :
