Position Title : Database Engineer (Migration)

Experience : 5–8 Years

Location : [Remote- India]

Role Overview

We are seeking a Database Migration Specialist with strong expertise in MS SQL Server and MongoDB to lead critical database transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for splitting large SQL databases into smaller entities, managing SQL scripting / versioning, migrating legacy DBs, and planning SQL-to-MongoDB migrations . This role requires close collaboration with developers, DBAs, and solution architects to ensure smooth migration strategies and robust, scalable database solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Database Transformation & Migration

Split large SQL Server databases into smaller, optimized DBs while maintaining data integrity and entity sanctity .
Lead the migration of East DB data into West DB and decommission legacy databases.
Plan and execute SQL → MongoDB migrations in collaboration with Dev teams.
Design and implement data models for SQL and MongoDB environments.

SQL Development & Versioning

Write, optimize, and maintain T-SQL scripts for data manipulation, migration, and reporting.

Implement CI / CD pipelines for database scripts (Git, Liquibase, Flyway, or similar).

Ensure proper version control and release management of database scripts.

Migration Planning & Execution

Analyze existing database landscapes, identifying migration challenges, risks, and opportunities.

Develop detailed migration strategies, methodologies, and timelines .

Document technical migration plans and present proposals to stakeholders.

Monitor and validate data integrity post-migration.

Collaboration & Leadership

Collaborate with Dev teams, DBAs, Solution Architects, and Business Analysts to align migration strategies.

Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members.

Communicate risks, dependencies, and progress updates to stakeholders.
