Job Description : Business Development Manager (South America)
Business Unit : Intas Animal Health
Location : Intas Corporate Office, Ahmedabad, India (with frequent international travel)
Reports to : Head – International Business (Animal Health)
Position Overview
The Export Manager – South America will be responsible for driving business development, market expansion, regulatory facilitation, and sales growth for Intas Animal Health across key South American markets such as Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru, and Argentina. The role requires strong expertise in animal health products, distributor management, regulatory pathways, and hands-on market-building experience in the region.
Key Responsibilities
A. Business Development & Sales Growth
- Develop and execute the South America export strategy aligned with Intas Animal Health global objectives.
- Identify, appoint, and manage distributors / partners across target countries.
- Achieve annual sales targets, gross margin objectives, and market penetration KPIs.
- Identify new product opportunities based on market needs in livestock, poultry, and companion animals.
B. Market Expansion & Intelligence
Conduct detailed market mapping for each country—market size, competition, pricing, and unmet needs.Track competitor activity, regulatory changes, and customer trends to develop strategic action plans.Explore opportunities with leading regional companies (e.g., Orofino, Sanfer, PISA, Laboratorios Unidos, etc.).C. Regulatory & Compliance Coordination
Liaise with regulatory teams, consultants, and authorities to initiate and complete product registrations.Ensure all product dossiers, samples, artwork, GMP documents, and certifications meet country-specific requirements.Monitor status of registration timelines and ensure timely approvals.D. Distributor & Key Account Management
Build strong relationships with distributors, wholesalers, veterinary chains, and corporate farms.Support distributors with product training, promotional strategies, and technical information.Conduct quarterly business reviews with partners to evaluate performance and corrective strategies.E. Product & Marketing Support
Support product launches, marketing campaigns, technical seminars, and trade show participation (e.g., IPPE, local vet congresses).Collaborate with marketing / technical teams to localize promotional material and support field activities.F. Forecasting & Supply Chain Coordination
Prepare accurate sales forecasts and ensure timely order placement.Coordinate with supply chain and logistics teams for smooth export documentation and on-time delivery.Manage price lists, commercial terms, and credit controls for each market.Required Qualifications & Experience
Educational Background
B.V.Sc., B.Pharm, B.Sc. (Animal Science / Life Sciences) or related technical qualificationMBA in International Business or Marketing (preferred).Professional Experience
2-3 years of experience in international business / export management in the animal health or pharmaceutical industry.Proven experience handling South American markets (mandatory).Strong network with veterinary distributors, corporate farms, importers, and regulatory consultants.Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of veterinary pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and biological product categories.Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.Ability to analyze market trends and develop actionable strategies.Well-versed in export documentation, INCOTERMS, and international logistics.Spanish proficiency required; Portuguese is a strong advantage.Ability to travel 40–50% internationally.Skills Required
