About The Role
As Head of Autonomy, you will lead the teams responsible for building the intelligence behind our robots. You will oversee the Robot Software, Machine Learning, and Data Annotation teams, with a focus on team structure, ownership, and execution. Your role is to ensure that teams are aligned, well-supported, and set up to deliver high-quality outcomes.
You will also serve as the Site Lead for our Bangalore office. In this capacity, you will help shape the office culture, support coordination with global teams, and grow our presence in India’s technology ecosystem.
This is a leadership role centered on building strong teams, setting direction, and ensuring consistent delivery. You will work closely with technical leaders, but will not be expected to own low-level design or implementation.
What you’ll be doing
Technical Leadership and Strategy
- Define and communicate the autonomy roadmap in partnership with product and technical leads
- Ensure teams have clear goals, well-defined responsibilities, and efficient processes
- Support planning and decision-making across autonomy, hardware, and product teams
- Create alignment across teams while helping to resolve prioritization or execution challenges
Team Management
Lead and support multiple autonomy teams, such as :Robot Software teams focusing on areas like high-level behaviors, system state, localization, mapping, and navigationMachine Learning teams focusing on robot perception, model development, ML platforms, and data managementData Annotation teams building scalable data pipelines and workflowsBuild an environment of trust, accountability, and continuous improvementProvide mentoring, feedback, and career development support for team members and leadsBangalore Site Leadership
Act as the senior leader for our Bangalore office and ensure strong alignment with our global team based in New Zealand.Cultivate a high-performance, inclusive engineering culture. Support hiring efforts and retain key team members.Represent the company within India’s technology and robotics ecosystem. Build relationships with academic institutions, partners, and local communities.Execution and Delivery
Drive execution across teams using structured planning and agile delivery practicesMonitor progress against milestones, identify and resolve blockers, and ensure high-quality outputTrack delivery KPIs, engineering effectiveness, and team healthOversee validation and testing efforts to ensure real-world performance and safetyExperience
At least 10 years of experience in robotics or AI, including 5 years in management or technical leadership rolesStrong understanding of autonomy systems such as SLAM, planning, perception, and ML-based decision-makingProven experience scaling and structuring engineering teams with clear ownership and cross-functional alignmentFamiliarity with tools and frameworks including Python, C++, ROS, and machine learning stacks such as PyTorch or TensorFlowExcellent communication and leadership skills, with a focus on clarity, execution, and collaborationWhy Join Us
