Role Overview :
The Senior Systems Engineer will serve as an L3 technical expert responsible for advanced troubleshooting, system optimization, and infrastructure support for enterprise Windows server environments. The role involves handling complex technical issues, guiding junior engineers, performing system upgrades, ensuring uptime, and driving automation and process improvement initiatives. This position requires strong expertise in Windows Server administration, troubleshooting, and infrastructure technologies.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Technical Support & Incident Resolution
- Provide advanced L3 support for Windows Server environments (20082022).
- Troubleshoot complex OS, patching, hardware, storage, backup, and cluster-related issues.
- Serve as an escalation point for L1 / L2 teams and resolve high-priority technical incidents.
2. Systems Administration & Maintenance
Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of Windows servers.Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, Certificates, and related core services.Support and maintain Windows Failover Clustering and Network Load Balancing.3. Infrastructure Management
Provide support for server-class hardware such as HP, Dell, IBM, Cisco, and blade chassis.Perform backup troubleshooting and restore operations as required.Assist with basic network troubleshooting and L2-level VMware environment support.4. Change Management & Operations
Participate in customer change requests, patch management cycles, and scheduled maintenance activities.Support after-hours changes and on-call rotations as part of a 247 shift environment.Contribute to problem management by performing root cause analysis (RCA) and implementing permanent fixes.5. Collaboration & Customer Engagement
Interact daily with customers, end-users, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations and timely issue resolution.Provide high-quality customer service, maintaining professionalism and clarity in communication.Document solutions, technical processes, and best practices for future reference.6. Continuous Improvement & Automation
Research system vulnerabilities, recommend mitigation strategies, and implement corrective actions.Utilize scripting languages (PowerShell preferred) to automate tasks, reporting, and operational workflows.Identify opportunities for optimization and contribute to process and technology improvements.Mandatory Skills & Qualifications
Technical Expertise
8+ years of experience in Windows Server administration (2008 / 2012 / 2016 / 2019 / 2022).Strong knowledge of Active Directory, AD CS, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, and Windows patching.Proficiency in Windows Clustering and Network Load Balancing (NLB).Hands-on experience with enterprise server hardware (HP, Dell, IBM, Cisco).Strong troubleshooting skills for OS, hardware, and infrastructure issues.Familiarity with networking concepts and ability to troubleshoot network-related issues.L2-level experience with VMware and basic understanding of storage systems.Strong backup troubleshooting expertise (Veeam, NetBackup, Commvault, etc.).Basic knowledge of Microsoft Azure (preferred).Soft Skills :
Excellent written and verbal communication.Customer-focused approach with a proven track record of delivering high-quality support.Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a logical approach to issue identification.Preferred Skills :
Experience with scripting / automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc.).Knowledge of storage technologies and virtualization concepts.Exposure to monitoring tools, ITIL processes, and enterprise support environments.Work Environment :
