Role Overview :
The Chemical & Slurry Engineer will be responsible for design, operation, and reliability of process chemical and slurry delivery systems that support wafer fabrication. This includes bulk and specialty chemicals, CMP slurry blending / distribution, storage, and supply systems. The engineer will ensure continuous uptime, compliance with EH&S standards, and provide technical support for fab expansions and new tool installations.
Core Responsibilities :
Chemical & Slurry System Operations
- Operate and maintain bulk / specialty chemical delivery systems, slurry distribution units, mixing / blending stations, storage tanks, pumps, and valves.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of acids, bases, solvents, and CMP slurries to wafer processing tools.
- Monitor system parameters (flow, pressure, purity, pH, particle stability) to maintain chemical and slurry quality.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure high uptime.
Engineering & Project Support
Support installation, commissioning, and qualification of new chemical and slurry systems for fab expansion.Develop engineering documentation (P&IDs, equipment specifications, SOPs, MOC).Collaborate with tool hook-up teams to integrate process equipment with slurry and chemical supply systems.Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with SEMI, NFPA, FM Global, and local EHS regulations.Conduct risk assessments, HAZOP studies, and chemical hazard analyses.Implement safe handling, spill containment, and waste disposal practices for hazardous chemicals and slurries.Reliability & Continuous Improvement
Troubleshoot system issues related to contamination, flow restrictions, or slurry stability.Optimize slurry blending, filtration, and delivery processes to reduce cost and improve performance.Monitor KPIs (purity, uptime, chemical usage) and drive continuous improvement.Collaboration & Leadership
Partner with process engineering, EHS, and vendors to ensure system readiness.Provide technical training and guidance to technicians and operators.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline.3–10 years’ experience in chemical / slurry systems within semiconductor fab, chemical facility, or CMP operations.Strong knowledge of slurry blending, filtration, stability control, and chemical distribution systems.Hands-on experience with SCADA / DCS systems and process monitoring tools.Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with root cause analysis experience.Preferred :
Experience in CMP (Chemical Mechanical Planarization) slurry systems.Familiarity with SEMI standards, ISO, and Process Safety Management (PSM).Vendor and contractor management for slurry / chemical system projects.
