Commodity Trader

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Commodity Trader (primarily in metals trading and hedging for both ferrous and nonferrous) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in commodity trading with complete understanding of financial instruments towards hedging of metals, with a proven ability to manage trading / hedging activities, build client / FI relationships, and generate profitable strategies aligned with risk management policy. Experience in trading metals is highly desirable and will be considered a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Market Analysis : Monitor and analyze commodity markets, identifying trends, opportunities, and risks.

Trading Activities : Execute trades within assigned commodities in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Portfolio Management : Manage and optimize trading portfolios, ensuring profitability and alignment with market strategies.

Client Relationships : Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other market participants like Banks / Fis / Commodity exchanges in metal trading and have necessary expertise to ensure hedging limits / documentation.

Risk Management : Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks, ensuring stable returns through hedging instruments with both domestic and overseas commodity exchanges and banks / FI.

Reporting : Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on market activity, trading performance, and strategic recommendations.

Compliance : Ensure all trading activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and company standards.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field.

MBA / PGDM in Finance is a plus.

3-5 years of experience in commodity trading.

Preferred : Demonstrated experience in metals trading.

Strong understanding of global commodity markets, including market drivers and trading strategies.

Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

Ability to work under pressure and make quick, informed decisions.

Proficiency in trading software and platforms.

Knowledge of risk management principles and tools.
