SUMMARY : The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and optimal performance of enterprise infrastructure systems that support core IT operations. The role focuses on Windows and Linux server management, Active Directory, patching compliance, and system health, while maintaining ITSM standards and driving operational excellence.
This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership in daily operations, and the ability to independently manage client communication and decisions with minimal supervision.
Essential Functions
- Administer and maintain Windows and Linux servers, ensuring consistent uptime, performance, and system integrity.
- Perform system provisioning, patching, configuration, and decommissioning.
- Monitor system health, performance, and capacity; resolve incidents and requests promptly.
- Handle firmware updates and coordinate planned maintenance activities.
- Manage Domains, Forests, Users, Groups, and Group Policies.
- Administer DNS / DHCP, authentication, and domain controller operations.
- Integrate third-party applications via LDAP or SAML as required.
- Utilize PowerShell for administrative automation and process efficiency.
- Manage and execute patch cycles using WSUS or equivalent tools.
- Ensure compliance with patching SLAs and address non-compliance remediation.
- Provide compliance reporting and contribute to vulnerability management initiatives.
- Perform daily backup health checks, troubleshoot failures, and rerun failed jobs using Commvault.
- Execute restore requests, firmware updates, and retention validations.
- Conduct daily storage health checks and manage NetApp storage performance and capacity.
- Use observability and monitoring tools for proactive event handling.
- Perform basic network troubleshooting related to connectivity or system performance.
- Support incident response, root-cause analysis, and documentation.
- Lead weekly operations meetings and participate in Monthly / Quarterly Business Reviews (MBR / QBR).
- Prepare and present operational decks and Change Advisory Board (CAB) updates.
- Maintain ITSM SLAs, ticket aging, and process compliance metrics.
- Create, update, and manage Knowledge Base (KB) documentation.
- Ensure adherence to contractual scope under the Unified Service Platform (USP).
- Act as the escalation lead for Tier 1 engineers and maintain service delivery continuity.
Required Education, Certification Experience, And Skills
