About the Role
We're seeking a Process Design Engineer (Flow Chemistry & Batch Process) to support process design, simulation,
documentation, and commissioning efforts under the guidance of senior engineers.
This is a high-impact opportunity for a motivated early-career engineer to grow within a
globally distributed pharma project team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize flow chemistry and batch processes for scale-up and commercial manufacturing.
- Perform process design calculations (heat & mass balance, reaction kinetics, equipment sizing, pressure drop, mixing, and scale-up parameters).
- Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as : Block Flow Diagrams (BFDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Support process safety assessments (HAZOP, risk analysis, safety studies).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (process chemists, mechanical, instrumentation, and analytical teams) to ensure robust process design.
- Evaluate new technologies and propose innovative solutions for continuous manufacturing & flow chemistry applications.
- Provide process engineering support during pilot plant and commercial scale-up.
- Work with procurement & vendors for equipment selection and specification preparation.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, regulatory guidelines, and EHS standards in process design.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's / Master's degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).5–7 years of proven experience in process design engineering within the pharmaceutical / chemical industry.Hands-on expertise in flow chemistry and batch process design.Strong knowledge of process design tools and calculations (heat / mass transfer, reaction engineering, hydraulics).Experience in preparing and interpreting BFDs, PFDs, P&IDs.Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, ChemCAD, or equivalent) preferred.Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.Knowledge of process safety (HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA) is desirable.Show more
