Description : About the Role :
We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Systems Programmer Automation to join our infrastructure team.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in mainframe systems (z / OS) and a strong focus on automation using tools such as Ansible and Python.
This role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing automated solutions to enhance system reliability, efficiency, and performance.
The candidate will play a key part in transforming traditional mainframe operations into modern, automated, and agile environments.
Key Responsibilities :
Automation Development & Implementation :
- Design, develop, and maintain automation scripts and workflows using Ansible, Python, and related tools to streamline mainframe operations and system administration tasks.
System Programming & Management :
Manage and optimize z / OS mainframe environments, ensuring stability, high availability, and operational excellence.Technical Solution Design :
Interpret business and technical requirements, convert them into feasible mainframe automation solutions, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.Proof of Concept (POC) Development :
Create and present POCs to validate automation strategies and demonstrate technical feasibility to stakeholders.Deployment & Support :
Oversee the testing, deployment, and post-deployment (hypercare) support for automation initiatives to ensure seamless integration into production environments.Performance Monitoring & Optimization :
Implement monitoring solutions and analyze performance data to proactively identify and resolve system issues.Collaboration & Project Planning :
Partner with project managers, product owners, and cross-functional teams to estimate effort, plan timelines, and deliver solutions within scope and schedule.Technical Leadership :
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, promoting best practices, coding standards, and operational excellence in automation.Continuous Improvement :
Evaluate current processes, identify opportunities for automation, and propose innovative solutions to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.Required Skills & Qualifications :
Experience : Minimum 7 years of experience in mainframe system programming and automation.
Technical Expertise :
Strong hands-on experience with z / OS and related components.In-depth understanding of COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, and IMS.Experience with enterprise job schedulers and batch processing systems.Automation Proficiency :
Expertise in Ansible and Python scripting for process automation and orchestration.Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code concepts and automated :Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex mainframe and automation issues.Collaboration :
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across technical and business teams.Leadership :
Demonstrated ability to lead automation projects and mentor junior programmers.Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have) :
