About the role
The Senior Manager – Audit & Compliance will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the organization’s audit and compliance framework to ensure adherence to regulatory, legal, and internal policy requirements. This role is critical in maintaining operational integrity, mitigating risk, and ensuring ethical and compliant business practices across all debt collection and fraud prevention functions.
The incumbent will serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on governance, risk, and compliance matters, while also leading internal audit programs to assess the effectiveness of controls and ensure compliance with financial regulations and industry standards.
Main Responsibilities
Compliance Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance framework in alignment with RBI, SEBI, other applicable financial services regulations and client requirements
- Monitor regulatory developments and update internal policies / procedures to ensure continuous compliance.
- Ensure adherence to data protection laws (e.G., GDPR, DPDP Act) and customer confidentiality norms.
- Conduct compliance risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for identified risks.
- Oversee vendor and third-party compliance (including collection agencies and fraud prevention partners).
- Manage regulatory & client inspections, audits, and responses to notices or queries.
Audit & Control
Lead the internal audit function & client audit process to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.Develop and execute the annual audit plan covering operational, financial, and IT systems audits.Identify control weaknesses, recommend corrective actions, and track implementation.Coordinate with client, external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits and inspections.Prepare audit reports and present findings to the senior management and audit committee.Risk & Governance
Collaborate with business heads to embed risk and compliance considerations into operational processes.Drive the enterprise risk management framework focusing on operational, reputational, and regulatory risks.Develop and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and compliance dashboards for management reporting.Provide compliance training and awareness programs across departments.Fraud Prevention Oversight
Partner with fraud risk and operations teams to review fraud controls and prevention mechanisms.Conduct periodic audits on fraud detection processes and ensure timely escalation of potential breaches.Support investigations into suspected frauds or compliance violations and recommend remedial actions.Qualifications & Experience
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Law, or related field.Professional certifications such as CA, CPA, CISA, CIA, CFE, or LLB preferred.Experience :
8-10 years of progressive experience in audit, risk, or compliance within financial services, NBFCs, fintech, or collections industry.Strong exposure to regulatory compliance, debt recovery regulations, and fraud prevention controls.Demonstrated ability to lead audits, manage regulatory interactions, and design risk management frameworks.Skills & Competencies
Deep understanding of financial sector compliance requirements (RBI, NBFC, FIU-IND, DPDPA, etc.).Strong knowledge of internal audit methodologies and risk assessment tools.Excellent analytical, investigative, and report-writing skills.Leadership and stakeholder management abilities with high ethical standards.Strong communication and presentation skills for senior management and board-level reporting.Ability to work cross-functionally and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
